Look if the pixel had been available here I would have gone for that - but I'm genuinely not sorry I switched - no regrets because except for the UI flexibility (launcher, icons, etc) there is nothing that I miss.

But you can only access Dropbox online whereas on Android you can access this data offline.

I personally am sharing my unbiased views. As I have an iPhone 7 Plus 256GB And a Google Nexus 6P.

On iOS yes there are ways to open a zip file but it is much more complicated. For example I get pricelists via email via a zip file. This can not be opened by no default app on iOS but rather with 3rd party apps by going through a rather in depth process.

Also on iOS sharing PDFs and documents etc even a audio file is much harder and not native. 3rd party apps are needed for this such as iDownloader etc.

With iOS you cannot import pictures to your phone without using iTunes. That IS THE REAL TRUTH. And if you switch PCs when using iTunes you would have to resync your entire photo album if it wasn't backed up. Same case with mp3s. If you try sending from one computer then sending from another afterwards you have to replace the library etc.

Audio also received via WhatsApp even a simple thing like voice messages cannot be saved on iOS

More choice but no standard.
 
I very strongly prefer Android over iOS, for so many reasons. Just off the top of my head, and somewhat in order of important to me:

- The design language of Android. Clean full screen apps with a hamburger button/swipe for options or a menu is so much more usable and aesthetically pleasing to me than the (usual) iOS design of having tabs along the bottom of every app. Man I hate tabs in apps (unless they're only briefly visible when you swipe between them).
- File management. iOS has none. Very annoying.
- Battery life. My step-dad's iPhone 7 has godawful battery life and he doesn't even have Twitter or Facebook accounts.
- The app stores. The Play Store is really nice. Easy to browse, many listings in view at a time, updates easy to find yet out of the way etc. The App Store on the other hand also has the ugly permanent tabs, but to make things much worse, poor search (imo) with individual apps taking up a humongous amount of screen space. Usability is really poor in my opinion for the latter store.
- Apple Music. My family has the family plan. Imo the app is significantly better on Android. How is this possible? No complaints from me though. (The Android app is amazing btw)
- Telegram & WhatsApp. The tabbed layout in iOS sucks for both apps imo. Ugly and a waste of space. (Same complaint as above, but these are really important apps)
- Customisation. I love changing icon packs and mixing up widgets. Can't do either in iOS.
- App quality. This isn't really a point, as many will disagree or it won't be applicable to them. But I either can't find alternatives to Talon for Twitter, Simple for Facebook Pro, Relay Pro for Reddit, Tapatalk, BlueMail and some others or their iOS version doesn't stand up against their Android counterpart in my opinion. I don't use an iPhone, but I use an iPad a fair amount and I never thought I'd say this about an iDevice, but I feel like the quality of the apps isn't as good as what I'm used to on my Android phone.
- Settings and customisation. There is zero confusion about where to find settings for apps in Android. iOS on the other hand has no standard with the Settings app and/or in-app settings. It can be pretty annoying.
- Options. This point includes the ability to buy one of many different interpretations of Android by various manufacturers, and also at many different price levels. There are many OnePlus devices in my family, ranging from the One to the 3, and they are all awesome devices and they cost way less than local flagships.

My newest iPhone has never touched iTunes.

Android phones have a SD slot, iPhone does not.

I've never needed or felt the need for this since the 3GS which was my first iPhone.

If I don't like a particular brand of Android phone I can change to any other brand whilst porting all my contacts etc via Google.

I have done this since my very first iPhone 3GS. I think I've switched iPhone at least four times since then and also flipped to a Lumia in between. This isn't a special Android feature, it's a Google service.


Not sure but does iPhone or iOS have any support for VR or any other attachment?

I don't get people's obsession with accessing the file system - micromanaging the data on my phone doesn't seem important.

:erm: Sure you can - I do it daily and that's the real truth.

:confused: The [default] mail app lets you peruse the contents of a zip file, open in the associated app, and forward all or parts of it via many means.

Ok - well I just sent myself a zip file containing various file types. One was a excel spreadsheet which I then selected and opened in Numbers. Obviously I could have used Microsoft Excel but I didn't feel like downloading the app.

Don't know about rar but as you specified zip files I went with that.

BTW - the image I attached above was a screenshot from my phone which I sent to my laptop, edited and resized before sending it back to my iphone to post using tapatalk - all without itunes.

Same way I ask myself why on earth I would ever want to open a ZIP or RAR archive on my phone.

Or anywhere at all for that matter.

Yup makes no sense.
Those anti virus filters can't scan archive files sometimes.

Makes more sense to put it on the cloud.
