Hey guys :)

So if any of you Cape Townians are like me, you were super sad when OC closed its doors.

Some of us former crew have started a new path and are forming our own LAN called eHaven ( http://facebook.com/ehavenza ). We're having our first "test" LAN at UCT on the 4-5th July to test our new gear, servers, setup etc.. We'd love it if you could show your support and come join us for a relaxed weekend of gaming. Seats are R30 each - all gigabit.

If you're a keen bean, you can book online at http://book.ehaven.co.za until the 30th of June. Otherwise come buy at the door.

Hope to see you there!

Great stuff, thanks! :D Hope to see you there. We are trying to organise internet, but no promises, yet. ;)

I'll be there. Contacting a few of my old OC friends to see if they can make it. :D

this is great news!! there's been a void for too long. will you guys be running a DC server as well?

Anything there is enough people who are interested. We can host a few game servers, but I'd suspect the most interest will be for DotA 2. A few people attending are also keen on some Chivalry (not really my cup of tea).

Some good news, campus IT has granted us an internet connection. Obviously not for downloading, but for some good gaming.

I'm very curious as to how it went... I booked a few seats, but with the crappy weather that weekend, I was forced to stay home :(

Hey guys,

Sorry for the late reply. Overall the event was great. The bitterly cold and wet weather wasn't on our side, but fortunately the drop-off point was right next to the door and the attendees tanked the rain like bosses.

We really did get 100Mbit internet, allowing everyone 2Mbit speeds for Steam updates and browsing. Unfortunately it wasn't great for online play in terms of latency. We did manage to figure out the root of the problem and is something we will address if we have future events at UCT.

That didn't stop anyone though, with lots of 1v1 and team DotA. We streamed the soccer on a projector too. Venue was surprisingly warm given how insanely cold it was that weekend - probably has to do with the wooden floors and wall paneling.

There are a few pictures up on our Facebook page ( http://facebook.com/ehavenza ). Excuse the quality though, they were taken with a mobile camera as our good camera was left behind.
