10060 Errors

I use Opera as a mailer/browser and keep getting 10060 (timeout?) errors on the mail side when accessing NNTP news services. I do not have these problems with Outlook Express. Rather than take the backward step of dropping Opera in favour of OE I would rather sort out the problem with Opera. Any suggestions?

Hi. Yes. The HUAWEI E220 modem from Vodacom is my only means of accessing the Internet. When I moved house about a year ago Telkom was so vague about when they could give me an ADSL line that I opted to change to Vodacom.
