To find out how your new ADSL order is progressing, you have an option of calling these numbers to find out:
10219: For new and progress related HomeDSL inquiries, Press 2
0800 DSL DSL: For progress on your application or installation, Press 4
This is not the exact wording – Out of business hours, line(s) are closed.

I always thought that these 2 options gave you the Exact same call center and that these 2 was no different from each other. Seems like I was wrong. On both the Self Installs I have done, these 2 numbers have provided me with conflicting information on the status of my ADSL order.

The 10219 number was always paranoid and always verified who I was. They would then go on to tell me my line is not ready yet.

The 0800 number just asked me the order number and just asked if I was Mr X. They then go on to Test my line I think. The interesting part here was, that in both cases, this number told me that my line was ready just after the 10219 line told me my line was not ready.

On my second order, I confirmed this again. Just after the 10219 line told me (on Friday) that my line is not ready yet, and that I must call them on Wednesday again, I dialed the 0800 number. After a few minutes I was informed that “my” line was in fact ready.

How is this possible? Does the 10219 line follow another Procedure than the 0800 line to determine if your order is completed? Because I get the idea that at 10219 they follow your order comments, while at 0800 they test your line to Check if it is an ADSL line already. Or maybe the other way around?

Just a thought I would like to throw out to everyone.

AFAIK 10219 is mainly for lines without DSL enabled. If your line goes down, and it's DSL enabled, then call the 0800 one. In fact if you have any problem on your DSL line, whether it's line related or DSL related, then call 0800. In my experience they're slightly more competent than the 10219 guys anyway ;)

They are different departments, 10219 is for new services, 0800 375 375 is tech support. 10219 will help you with your ISP account and probs, the other 0800 number cannot do this, it is mainly for dsl problems (physical connectivity).

Sometimes the difference cannot be "seen", you phone the one number and they put you trough to the other number, without actually telling you they going to transfer you to the correct department.
