Why would DDR2-1066 memory show up as DDR2-800 on system startup, i.e. during BIOS POST display? Actual message says: DDR2 800 in dual channel interleaved mode. MB manual says only mem slot 1 & 3 support 1066Mhz. OTB, no overclocking etc.

Memory: 2 x 1GB Transcend aXeRam DDR2-1066 (in slot 1 & 3)
CPU : E7400
MB : P5QPL-VM

Am I missing out or does 1066 normally run as 800? Confused .:.

I've got the same situation.
you have to set the divider to run the mem at 1066
@LFX: Could you elaborate a bit please? How would one go about in doing that?

You need to check on the specs for the ram, (1) the ram timings needed for 1066 and (2) the voltage required for 1066.

DDRII 1066 ram is typically 800 chips designed to run overclocked at 1066, so when you put them in, they default to 800. In your bios, you must change the Ram divider (as LFX mentioned) to the correct setting to aquire 1066, and also the voltages usually need to be bumped up a tiny bit (norm is +0.1 to +0.3 depends on the ram specs) and the timings normally should be set to 5-5-5-15 for 1066.

Each Mobo has its slight differences in their Bios GUI, so refer to your Mobo manual to see how to get to the ram settings.

If you get stuck, let me know... just give me a heads up on the ram and mobo...

Thanks man, appreciate it. I was always a bit reluctant to fiddle with the voltages and that stuff, because I'm afraid I might just screw something up real bad.
I have an Asus M2N-SE Plus motherboard (X-series) and 2x2GB Corsair XMS ram, if that helps.
But I'll check and browse to see if I can find out a bit more, how to go about with this.
Thanks in advance ;)

Is your ram the XMS2 series? If so then according to this http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X4096-8500C7.pdf your timings need to be 7-7-7-20 and your voltage needs to be 2.0v.

As for your mobo... is it this M2N-MX SE Plus? Cause theres not much in the manual to show how to change mem settings :(

Oh .. so that's why my MB's specced as DDR2-1066(O.C)

Thx for the heads up guys!

Jip, that's the correct ram... I'll try and have a look around to see what my mobo says about all this.... But if I don't get any info on that, should I go ahead and do as the Corsair "manual"/website says, or should I rather stay away from doing this then?
Thanks a lot man, appreciate it!

OKay CPU-Z reports the following:

JDEC#1: 4-4-4-12-16 @ 1.8v
JDEC#2: 5-5-5-18-23 @ 1.8v
EPP#1: 5-5-5-15-22 @2.1v

JDEC#1 Frequency: 266mhz , JDEC#2 Frequency: 400mhz , EPP#1 Frequency: 533mhz.

In another timings table it gives the following timings:

5-5-5-18-24
NB Frequency: 1808mhz
DRAM Frequency: 401mhz

I have absolutely no idea what all this means.
Any assistance would me much appreciated !
Thanks guys ;)

EPP#1 is telling you that to get 533mhz (DDRII is 533 X 2 = 1066) you need timings of 5-5-5-15 (thats what I use on my mobo for my Apogee GT ram) and the voltage needs to be 2.1v

I'm not familiar with your mobo nor with AMD settings (they work a little differently to Intel). But asus are good boards, can't see why they would not have settings for you to fiddle with. I would try the settings recomended by corsair first, run some mem test to see if its all good.

Follow up .. there was a setting in my BIOS for 1067 memory, so I went ahead but left the voltage on auto. BIOS now reports memory correctly.

Question : would fine-tuning the voltage have any effect or could I leave it on auto?

Also why 1067 when everyone else says 1066?
