I'm looking to upgrade from my Zotac 1060 Mini 3 GB to a 1080 Ti but all sites i know only have the Asus ROG Strix in stock
Does anyone know of a place with a cheaper card say a MSI Gaming X?
or am i better off getting a 2080 card?

Check the classifieds at carbonite.co.za

No point in getting a 2080 unless you have a 4K 60Hz+ capable display, or want the current useless RTX feature.

Personally skipping the 20X0 series, too much hype and too little performance increase for the price.

What genetic said, get a 1080 Ti and wait for the 30X0 series is what I would say. Of course, if you have money laying around, go for a 2080, it's just the price that's the big issue.

Ray tracing is more of a proof of concept with the 2000 series. Preliminary benchmark performance numbers with ray tracing enabled are disappointing to say the least, so don't buy the card if you are soley relying on RTX benchmarks.

The RTX 2000 series is great for 4K 60Hz gaming otherwise, if ray tracing isn't a deciding factor... But so is the much cheaper 1080ti...

Thanks guys i knew all the hog wash that was the 20 series so glad you all agree to avoid it
i'll defiantly give Carbonite a look

Going to struggle to find new 1080ti's nvidia have stopped producing them. If your buying retail may as well buy 2080 as the retail pricing is similiar.

If you are willing to buy second hand you can find good deals on the 1080ti thought.
