1080ti value in 2025

right what would you pay for the 1080ti 11Gb. Good condition.

What would you pay if it was available?

Doing a bit of market research as I am trying to save up for a laptop
 
3000 to 4500 by the looks of it, but that is facebook market and BoB shop, carbonite seems to agree

Not much more than R3k going by what I have seen, 1070ti go for R2500 often.
Still a decent card though but no RTX and it’s ancient.

It is ancient and it had a really really good run.

Granted it’s not that far behind a 3060ti which is a very decent mid range card.
Some games apparently don't benefit from RTX as much as others so for some people the 1080ti is still an ok option
 
I wouldnt buy into dead tech personally.

Since newer games actually require mesh shaders, it makes this card useless. The performance impact trying to run games without the shaders (if it allows it) is massive.

Would rather get a more expensive future proof card with shaders.

That being said, the green team sheep are weird. They'll buy just about anything with the logo on it and not complain that its overpriced/underperforms/old tech etc.
 
If you have a 1080ti now then you can still make do.

If you want to go and spend money buying one, then thats not the best idea.
 
But why?
You can get a RX 6600xt for R3.5k secondhand about the same as 1080ti. Then you have a much newer card with more or less the same performance.
 
I have a 1080 in good running condition, no fan problems no black screen problems. Only reason why we are thinking of selling it is power. The cost of electricity is going up on the first of April and it will be no joke of my family as we are already fighting to keep the bill down. A laptop draws less power and will allow my oldest to study even if the power is out.

The reason is a 2Kwh UPS/inverter/solar inverter can drive a laptop and fibre easier than a 1080 in a i5 system. In short it is not economical to keep it going. I was thinking a Mac mini but you can get a really good win11 AMD laptop for R7k or R12k if you go new. The more money I have the more I can spend so Just asking around. I did get a buyer but I am not ready to sell just yet as the buyer offered R1.8k and I don't think it is a good deal.

My wife said we should keep it and try and build a bigger solar solution and I think she might be right.

She's right. I learned not to argue with my wife a long time ago... most women seem to have perfect financial sense when it comes to home.

Sold my GTX 1080 founders on carbonite for like R2500 or so .. so maybe 3k then (was like 2 years ago when i upgraded to a RX7900XT

so my best advise is look at how much someone selling their GTX 1080Ti for on carbonite and that will give you a ball park figure dont expect to get a lot for it though its old and outdated but its a value to someone.
 
I'd peg a well-maintained 1080ti around 3k in this market. It's certainly aged, but for budget builds or as a secondary card it still holds some value. Of course, condition and local demand will affect the price.
