For how many months/years have she been 'collecting' those mails
I have a 7.2GB PST - and a 3GB Archive PST.

My thunderbird folder is 9gb
It is really not that much in my opinion, outlook express would have imploded by now by outlook can handle much larger files.

Took her 2 years to build it up.
The problem with very big pst's are that they become corrupt easily and that can cause lost mails and such. And since the pst's are not on the exchange server but on local machines they are not backed up and stuff can be lost like that.
I'm on here everyday killa, just aint got much to say...
