I currently have two 1100 decoders setup in an Xtraview configuration.

I would like to replace one of the 1100 decoders with a PVR.

Would I have to install a different LNB?!? Or is it basically just unplug the one 1100, replace with PVR & configure the setup in the software?!?

Sound like your LNB is fine (if your XtraView is set up correctly)

Buy a multiswitch 2-> 4 or (2 -> 6 if you want).
Plug in both cables from the LNB into the multiswitch "IN" ports (assuming your current XtraView is set up properly)
Run two cables into the PVR from the multiswitch "OUT" ports
Run one cable to the other decoder, also from a multiswitch "OUT" port
Connect the heartbeat directly between the two decoders (line out from one to line in on the other) - here you bypass the multiswitch.

Voila!

^this.

I think you also need to have the PVR as the master (basically the 1100 will get its heartbeat from the PVR, also I think you will need to contact multichoice to let them know that you have a new PVR decoder so they can change the serial numbers for the heartbeat setup.

Yip, I setup & installed the Xtraview myself & it is all working 100% @ the moment.

The 1100 which I want to replace is currently the master, so it seems that all I need to buy is the multiswitch.

Any ideas how much this device costs?!?

Oh & thanks for the quick response & help, much appreciated!?!

Thanks to Makro's birthday specials, I now have 2x HD PVR2 decoders with Drifta's.

So, my original setup was HD PVR2 -> 1100 in XtraView. This is working 100%, despite the HD PVR2 having to be returned after 5 days due to it not responding to the remote...Something about a lens problem according to the Multichoice agents, anyways, I digress.

The HD PVR2 -> 1100 in XtraView mode works with only a single heartbeat cable.

Now I want to connect HD PVR2 -> HD PVR2 in XtraView mode.

The Primary PVR is connected to a HD TV, the Secondary PVR will be connected to a standard CRT TV, so HD output isn't required @ this stage.

Does this mean that I don't need to run two additional cables from the splitter & can run the decoder off the single heartbeat cable.

According to the PDF on page 19, I should be able to do this:

no you still need the 2 cables (well 3 if you count the heart beat) the 2 cables are used for viewing and recording and not specifically for HD

so you should have 2 cables into the multiswithc, and 4 out - 2 go into the primary decoder, and the other 2 go into the secondary, and 1 heartbeat linking the 2

Bugger, I so hoped no climbing in the roof was going to be necessary!?!

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

Its up to you really. You use only one cable and you won't be able to record (if you plug it into the correct tuner) :)
