I'm not sure if this relates to your story, but here's my story of new Windows 8 computers and the Vodafone software:-
With the newer Vodafone Mobile Broadband software, it needs to download .NET Framework, but now how is one supposed to download this without a working internet connection?
I remember that the older Vodafone software used to have .NET integrated into the software, so no need to download it alternatively. But this newer Vodafone software (meant for Windows 8) does not have .NET Framework and one needs to download it separately.
So not sure how this is supposed to work correctly.
Has anyone else come across this issue? I've had several friends complain about this exact issue with their new Windows 8 computers.
Why doesn't .NET Framework come pre-loaded with Windows 8? I think it only comes pre-loaded with .NET 4, but the Vodafone software requires .NET 3.5.
Anyway, the way they managed to get around this is to connect their computers to wi-fi or adsl routers, then install the latest Vodafone software and download whatever version of .NET Framework Windows 8 needed, and then the Vodafone installation would complete correctly.
Or download .NET Framework 3.5 from another computer and install it on their Windows 8 computer and continue with the installation of the Vodafone Mobile Broadband software.
And then they could load their 3G modem and connect via their Vodafone software.
