Just want to confirm.. 1155 motherboards are SA right?

And.. just want to ask for an opinion..

Is it worth getting a SA now?

Currently I have a i3 530..

but don't know if I should upgrade..

Should one rather wait before going to SA or is it safe?

You mean SB (SandyBridge).

Wait until after April. The SATA 3 ports are screwed and the mainboards will need replacing. There will be another chipset out at that time as well.

Depends whether you need the 3gb sata ports or not, the current chipsets these may degrade over a time period. Effects 5-15% according to intel so they are being recalled.

A lot of the mobo's have 4 6gb sata ports. So you can use those instead of the 3gb sata ports.

Well I don't really needs those.. but I guess it's better to have them?

If you have those ports.. Must your HDD also be like that?

Sata is backward compatible, you can use your sata 2 hard drives in sata 3 ports and vice versa. It will just run at the ports speed.

You have to decide whether wait for the revised ports(could be april/may) is worth it or whether getting a mobo now is the better option, you can swap it out once the new mobo's arrive if you need to.

Well currently I'm not really in a hurry to get these things.. I just want to find out the "status" Another thing.. I heard there was something like a two network port motherboard (like a 2 GPU system thingy.. )

Does the new SB Mobo have that? Or special orders?

If you're talking about dual gigabit LAN ports, the yes, there are a few mainboards with that. Asus p8p67 deluxe is one.

I am sitting with this problem now that there is a surplus of new processors and no motherboards. I can't source the CPU I want because all of them are socket 1155!

Yeah that one..

I see.. But does that make the internet and everything (LAN) faster?

Lol. No, if you have two lan connectors, it just means you can use your PC as a network hub. Special circumstances really.

The speed of the ports is more important nowadays.

So it's kind of usedless when it comes to LAN?

Cause I was thinking.. If you have 2 ports.. then one could use it while downloading and playing games.. :P Guess not :(
