Hi All, every month I contribute towards my 13th cheque so come December month I get a full tax free cheque, I’ve resigned and my last day will be the end of December and I’ve been told that I will not be getting my cheque as well as my salary till the last day of the month.
I can understand the company holding back my salary but can they legally hold back my cheque ?

legally I guess not - but I guess if its linked to your payroll and they delayed your salary so that's why they delayed your 13th cheque.

When would these "normally" be paid?

All companies I've been with before does that. I think it has to do with paying you for the full month and if they pay you on the 25th as an example, what forces you to come work that last 5 days?

Morals? Ethics? Honesty?

I mean do people really bugger off as soon as they've been paid when working in their notice?

I do the same. We normally pay our staff on 25th of the month. In notice month they get paid last day. Standard practise.
