*141# no longer shows data

Why is it that now to check data one has to dial *141*1# to check data when before it was displayed with the airtime on *141#?

When I checked my airtime this morning I thought I had depleted my bundle. It's only when I called 555 to see when my bundle was expiring that I found out that I still had bundle left.
 
I think it is a network problem
Happens to me all the time, but eventually when i try *141# several times it shows the balance

Same thing happened to me, but on mine it said use *141*1# for "other" balances
 
Why would MTN go and fix something that wasnt broken?
 
Beats me. Was fantastic being able to check outstanding pre-paid bundle balance. Now we have to remove it from our modems again :D. MTN coming up with real stunners these days...
