15" Macbook Pro Retina - RAM question

I wouldn't count on the default 8 going to 16. If we lucky, we might get a 32GB option, and even DDR 4.
 
I'm not happy about the direction Apple has taken with their laptops. Pity because otherwise they were really good.

As great as Windows 8.1 is it is no substitute for OS X.

Still sucks though, I would have bought the 256GB version and upgraded later, now I have to wait for a higher spec machine, no way I'm paying 30K for 8GB and 256GB with NO possibilty of upgrading.

Yeah. I've decided to wait for the new hardware. Had my hopes up during the WWDC but nothing :(

Maybe they'll do a silent bump in specs like they did with the Air this year.

The Retina SSD upgrade is pretty easy. Either the OWC 480GB Aura SSD or an aftermarket Apple (Samsung) 512 to 1TB SSD.
 
Hi there, have you considered running your development workloads in the cloud (Azure)? I know a couple of people that bought beast laptops and have realised that its easier to spin their VMs up in the cloud...
 
i went for the latest 15-inch MBP with 16GB Ram and 512 Flash storage - I have 2TB Thunderbolt external for video editing and a 3TB external USB 3 for all Time Machine backups. I also run a 2TB external USB 3 with less frequently used stuff like Vector Images, videos, books, tutorials etc etc.
