Must say I'm loving the force touch trackpad on the new Macs. It's very odd when you realise it's not actually clicking. Much less annoying (noisy) than the normal mechanism too.

It's a great new technology. So much easier to click and drag as less pressure is required. Now they just need to update the Magic Trackpad with Forcetouch.

Less than resting my finger lightly on the previous trackpad?

Being used to my current Forcetouch trackpad (which is set to the lightest setting), it is quite noticible that the previous trackpad requires more pressure to register a click. This is especially true for the upper part of the trackpad closest to the hinge.

Even on the lightest setting, you're still able to rest your finger without registering a click. The amount of pressure required feels perfectly natural.

My current 2015 MacBook is my first, but I've used a colleague’s previous generation macbook as well as my dad's Magic Trackpad.

It's a joy to use the latest trackpad - you wouldn't want to go back.
