My house is 3 minutes away from Hyde Park Shopping Centre and a few years back they also told me no capacity, but last year when tried again and I got ADSL, as they had upgraded their exchange. My number starts with 447 (probably not the same exchange).

And don't just except it when they say you are to far from the exchange. Get them to send out a techie to test your line. I'm on a small holding outside of town and was also told I'm to far from the exchange, but I kept on bugging them and eventually when they did come out, the guy said that the test results on my line is better than what people in town get.

I lived in First Road Hyde Park, close to Melville Road. I had ADSL from January 2007 to when I left in January 2009. On a 442 number.
