So I got a new Samsung Syncmaster 920NW at a reasonable price.
But I can't for the life of me find the correct resolution on this Motherboard which is 1440x900 for this monitor.
Running it off onboard Foxconn WinFast 760GXK8MC Motherboard with SIS760 Chipset. I've looked on the internet and find that people suggest flashing the BIOS even the official says I have to update :( ANyone got any ideas on how to fix this problem. My poor screen looks HORRIBLE! All blurry and smudged text :(

Yip, u gonna have to flash ur bios or get the latest VGA drivers for your onboard chip.

Widescreen resolutions are somewhat "new" to the market, so older motherboards with onboard chipsets aren't gonna graft too well.

Try investing in a graphics card. U should be able to get a decent one between R400 and R700 and will more than likely have the resolution you're after.

My friend has the same problem in Windows with this monitor on a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L?

No problems in Kubuntu...

O got the latest drivers but still no progress. Looks like I should get a graphics card that can support it. I got no idea how to update a BIOS

achmat, i had a similar problem also using a foxconn mobo (old version though). I emailed the support and they gave me step by step instructions on how to flash the bios so maybe try that

Thanks Poffle, i'll give that a try. I don't feel like shelling out money for graphics card, hahahaha.
