Hi Guys

Besides size is there really any other advantage of a 22" over a 19" LCD monitor.

THanks
DD

I am lost with keeper's comment but there is not much of a difference other than the wide factor :), if you have the money get a 22" if not a 19" will be just fine. You won't miss out on to much.

Higher resolution = better graphics. Will also need a better computer.

LOL and i'm now lost with your comment :D

19" doesn't necessarily mean a 4:3 aspect, you get widescreen 19" LCD's too

I just got a 22 wide lcd, moving from a 17"CRT I thought the screen might be to big, but now Im use to it, it feels like a 19" would have been just to small :P

It really is nice having the real-estate to work with... When you need to multi-task there, etc.

22 inch standard Widescreen res = 1680 x 1050 = 80182 pixels per diagonal inch.
19 inch standard Widescreen res = 1440 x 900 = 68210 pixels per diagonal inch.
24 inch standard Widescreen res = 1920 x 1200 = 96000 pixels per diagonal inch.
26 inch standard Widescreen res = 1920 x 1200 = 88615 pixels per diagonal inch.
30 inch standard Widescreen res = 2560 x 1600 = 136533 pixels per diagonal inch.

Yes, I know the correct unit is dpi (print) or even dot pitch for monitors but
too tired to find the HxV measurements here.

So the sharpest are 30 then 24 then 26 then 22 then 19.

If you're going to use it for gaming then take into consideration your specs.

To run a game nicely on a 22" you need to run at a res. of 1680x1050, throw in AA and AF and framerates take a huge hit.

I run some of my games at 1280xcan't remember, they don't look bad, but not as good as at 1680x1050, and not as good as what 1280xcan't remember would look on a 19" (same amount of pixels look worse on bigger screen.)

A 22" monitor is far more immersive, IMO, than a 19" monitor, when it comes to gaming.

Most new games being released support 16:10 aspect ratio, but some older games don't, and may need tweaks/config changes.

Having looked at a 19" widescreen, it looks way too tiny! If you're going to get a 19", I think 4:3 would be a better idea IMO.

I'm doing the exact same upgrade soon

If you're talking about real-estate, would you rather have 2 x 19" or 1 x 22"?

i remember, going from a 14" CRT to a 17" CRT - wow
17" CRT to a 22" Wide LCD - Wow
22" Wide LCD to a 42" Wide Full HD - hmm... well...every other screen looks like a piece of **** now, and when going to work and doing Vector graphics on a 22" Screen, it feels like i'm working on a dinky toy.

save up dude, and add some more cash. borrow a few extra, and then buy the biggest you can. (also taking res/etc into consideration though..)

The price difference between a 19" and 22" is not that great - I would save for a few more months and get 2x 22" ! :D

I am getting my 2x T240's next month - already got my Aavara Double LCD stand ready... will post pics when it's all up and running.

it's just a shame for gaming really - the crosshair sith in the friggen middle, so you're gonna be staring at that plastic frame quite a lot... :(

rather get a 42" - it's basically 2x22", but no plastic in the middle of your view, and it's higher too!

or go big and get that alienware display... :D

Yea Im not a fan of 2 monitors :/ For that exact reason...

I've got another 22in on the way, was looking at getting something like the Aavara stand. How is it? Nice and sturdy? Easily adjustable?

Very sturdy and fully adjustable - very easy to assemble in under 4 minutes - will up a few pics later when at home...
