1980's SABC Television Schedules

I remember "TV 1" and the news "Ses op 1"... was good times.
We had some Huisgenoot cutouts from the 80's... have no idea where they are now :(
 
Used to watch Isabelle Jones' Fair Deal. Also remember Telefun Quiz (or something to that effect) with the yellow duck...
 
Vorster Tv in the 70's..typical tuesday night ...test pattern...toilet logo,prayer news at 6, derek, gulp, world at war, dallas, 9 pm close, prayer,die stem, test pattern..What a load of carp it was! At least after 9 I had my zx sinclair only problem was it got so hot after 5 lines o code it would crash..die goeie ou dae ...NOT!

Was that the game show with all those pink TVs and then you could win appliances or even a weekend away? I think the host was this short chubby guy.
 
Well I've been making some enquiries and seems I can also contact magazines like Personality and You for the old schedules. Will keep at it ain't gonna give up! ;)

:D:D:D No playstation, iPods, PCs, Commadore an Atari if you had money. Games were so cool at that time.

I am pretty sure the tv screens were blue with like question mark things on the screens, and I remember that set must of been huge cause it was like double storey or something like that. Speaking of telefunken quiz, I had a teacher in std 1 (grade 3 for those a bit younger) who went on the that show, she was a bloody celebrity for about a month afterwards, it was anounced in the school and I remember gathering around the tv to watch, lol.

oh yes and graeme heart was a legend!!!

But the absolute king of 80's television has got to be Riaan Cruywagen!!!!

Thanks for that link though, very interesting! The Villagers...I vaguely remember that. Any links to anything about that show? Tried google but nothing.

My first memories of TV:
I remember when I was a laaitie I got so freaked out one night. Eddy Eksteen was on some show and he looked right into the camera. I went and hid behind the couch because I thought he was staring at me! :D

Then there was the waiting until evening for it to start and then watching Shirley Veal do the news. And Shanana!

Isidingo is (or was) based on The Villagers. It's obviously moved away from the mining town life style into the corporate bullsh*t it is now.

I'm wanting to start a collection and any help will be appreciated. I've scanned ebay for old schedules because often somebody will put them on for collectors such as myself.

This week I was contacted by an employee of the SABC, and they have EVERYTHING on archive, all television schedules of every day of every year since 1980.

Its possible to get them but at a price of course :)
 
80s TV schedules

The Argus Tonight is on electronic archive at the SA Library, the Argus library having been handed to them. They should have the whole of Tonight for the eighties.

do you guys have any "year records" like what year was robotech on South african TV?
and when did we get the first colour TV?
