1993 BMW E36 318 Problem

We got This Bmw that keeps breaking the roater and the distributer cap contact points anybody know what the problem could be ?

worn bearings and/or shaft in the distributor - hows the play in the shaft? Shouldn't be any. Shaft is split in two with the upper half sprung and weighted for the mechanical ignition advance. You will therefore pick up rotational play but there should be no lateral movement.
