1Gb Vs 2Gb Memory - Part 2

Not sure about xp but for vista you can load the drivers onto a usb flash drive and install the raid array like that.

Does the USB drive need to stay in all the time, like when using ReadyBoost on Vista?

No you are only using it to install your drivers for your raid array after you are done installing the os and it's drivers you can remove the flashdrive.

I see. Lekker. So I must download these RAID drivers then from somewhere?
And then just install Vista on some other HDD, not one of the RAID partitions I take it?

Okay..been listening to some other opinions....what's yours

Select the best option and let me know

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core AM2

1.) 1GB DDR 800 Memory (2 x 512Mb)

or

2.) 2GB DDR 800 Memory (4 x 512mb)

Some believe than having more than 2 modules in the machine will actually slow it down more due to memory timings... but I would believe that 2Gb is better

I see.

You serious about the floppy part?

You don't need floppy drivers for Linux, Linux has better driver support, straight of the CD. You do need it for Windows.

XP is 5 years old, it doesn't have drivers for the new hardware. Linux kernels are updated once a month. Ubuntu is updated every 6 months.

I recently upgraded to Feisty, before I used Edgy, the equivalent of XP to Vista. I removed the previous version, kept my data on the disks and reinstalled. When I booted the system I opened the mp3 player and my playlist was still working. My desktops backgrounds and settings were still set. How nice is that?

I installed from the CD by booting it, I didn't do an apt-get for those who are wondering.
