1MB Uncapped Fiber vs 1MB Uncapped Satellite

Could someone please advise on the benefit if any on having fiber instead of satellite.

Is there any real difference or benefit. It will be used mainly for business.

Fiber - Suited for Low latency applications that rely on realtime data (Multiplayer Games )
Satellite - Good for just about anything that does not care about any International latency.

What does your Business use their ADSL line for at the moment?

I know the fibre option is very popular with stock and futures traders as well.

Basically it translates in lower latency on international connections.

Satellite fails. Even if you don't care about latency, your upload speeds are usually miserable. And it does strange things when it's too cloudy... or too sunny.

Get fibre if you can.

I've supposedly been upgraded to fiber according to my ISP.

Besides for the billing and low ping speeds (which can be erratic) how can I confirm this ?

Does anybody know the gateways/hops I should be going through on fiber vs satellite ?

ok, firstly, the satellite and fibre options are both copper cable connections running to your house. it's only your international connection that will go throgh either sat or fibre. Right?

so for normal web browsing, and even downloading sat should be fine? local will not make use of the sat connection so playing games locally should be fine as well?

for comparison reasons, would a normal axxess 1gb account or even do1 be satellite or fibre?

afaik all saix accounts - including telkom Do and axxess are fibre (sat3)

so how can i compare speeds without getting an uncapped sat line? are you aware of prepaid sat accounts?

or perhaps someone with uncapped sat line can give some results?
