I am currently using MWEB's 1mb Uncapped offering for R199 per month.

I see they offer a 2mb at R239 but this is the one that is throttled.
Web Africa also offer a 2mb uncapped at R239.

Now, disregarding the Seacom issue, MWEB I have found to be very reliable and a good ISP.

I possibly want to go for the 2mb option but I am worried about the throttling, so I have a few questions.

My usage is around 100gigs per month, sometimes less, sometimes more. Will I be throttled on MWEB and if so by how much? It seems a bit pointless upgrading to 2mb if I am just going to be throttled to below 1mb speeds which I am getting at the moment.

If anyone has experience with these accounts or if the relevant reps could assist that would be great.

Thanks

I am currently on a WA 2mbit home uncapped account, on a 10mbit line, and most of the time I get full account speed.

Here is a traffic graph of the last 24 hours:

The account is currently on 4 stars, and as you can see, I get full account speed, although for most of the month it was on 3 stars.

Currently it stands on 132gb for the month, which is quite moderate usage for me I'd say.

Now, I have to tell you, most of my linux distro downloads fire off between midnight and 6am, because that is when Sickbeard grabs them, and as far as I know from Plugg, when your downloads are in that timeslot, you don't lose as much stars, and you can even go up in stars.

I am also currently on leave, so using the net during the day for a change, and apart from some random slowness here and there, most of the time it is 100%.

Thanks Tinuva that's really helpful as my usage will be about the same I would suspect. I can always give them a try for a month or two and see how it is.

Now I have the mission that is cancelling MWEB.
