Anyone activated as yet?

I just phoned, mine has been validated, now they need 48 working hours to assign an installation date. Even though it's an upgrade, they still need an installation date.

This will be done after 14:30 on Monday morning.

Anybody closer to the holy grail?

Just got the connection activated within 24 hours. Speeds are as expected. I am roughly getting 107 kb/s. You can really notice the difference :D

I've ordered ... but am unable to get through to anybody on 0800 456 786 to verify the progress of the order. Continually on hold !

0800 375 375 - Last hold was 36 minutes .... they are apparently busy (smoking weed?)

PS: Who in telkom did you have to perform oral sex on to get it activated in 24 h ?

Piece of useless info ... If you dial 0800 375 375 - and then select Order Status option - it takes you to the same department that 0800 456 786 takes you to ( i.e. 0800 456 786 is a 'direct' number - pity no one answers ! )

Forgot to ask ... did they just "flick the switch" on the exchange and that was it - or did you need to do anything on your end ?

"We are currently experiencing large call volumes, please be patient". Aaargh.
Do me a favor - get off the line - I'm trying to get through! :D

Didnt have to do anything. All I did was phone and it was enabled within 24 hours. Sit back and relax, it will happen :)

Now it appears that after you've placed your order ... it gets validated ( whatever that means ) and thereafter sent to the technical dept to be actioned.

From the way I understood it - If hadn't phoned to check on the status - it would not have been sent through to the technical dept ...

Yeah ... they validate in order to do installation date ....

Next time they want me to pay the phone bill, they will have to validate with my financial institution.

What they probably mean by "getting validated" is that they are checking your payment history before anything is further processed. Typical Telkom....

I ordered the 1mb and got it speeds are running ata constant 119kb so all is good.

Voip works well over it.

In my stupidity 14 months ago i went fir an ADSL contract with the free modem. I decided today to upgrade my 512 to 1024. Went through all the validations and questions and was then informed that I will have to pay a monthly penalty of R75 for breaking the contract. Me tells the person on the line that I'm not ending the contract or breaking it, but I'm actually upgrading my damn ADSL line. No-no sir but you don't understand.

What I'm am very well understanding is that Telscum is a ripp-off and I would gladly move to the SNO.
