A while ago Telkom reduced the line speed on their exchange from 2048 to 640, right? Now how do they provide you with 1024? On my NetGear modem it says this: DownStream Connection Speed 640 kbps, UpStream Connection Speed 384 kbps.

Tp those with 1024: What does the modems say now?

wrong. people are getting 110KB/s down and more with their 1mb connections.

I realize that yes, just read the 9 page post on 1Mb ADSL...

Still doesn't answer my question though... ;)

yes, it does answer your question. if people were getting 110KB/s down, then telkom must not have dropped exchange speeds. self-explanatory. it's not difficult to work out how many kbps 110KB/s is, either :p

cheers!

No dude, we are typing past each other! :p

If the exchange is set at 640Kbps, it can't go faster than 640/8=80KBps.

But Andre answered my question, as his exchange speed changed to 1152/8=144KBps.
