What's a good 1st programming language to start off with to get into programming?

My guess would be python. The reason is that universities are starting to use python as their main programming language, so if you are still in school you will be setting yourself up nicely if you want to study computer science ... In addition you can learn how to code using different programming paradigms in python (Object Oriented and Functional come to mind)

I started in turbo pascal ... hahaha
