1Tb Drives

Thanks for the link... shouldn't be too much trouble if i only gonna use it for movie and music storage... not to run my OS

Sahara - same drive, same price. If you are not a dealer try somebody in Cape Town that is registered to buy for you. It will save the courier cost and probably less issues should you need to swap out or repairs.

I don't see the 7200 rpm version on the PE list.

Do you know any dealers in CPT? I'm not a dealer and would like to get it at that price...

No, sorry. I'm in the Eastern Cape and can only buy in PE, but there surly must be someone here on Mybb that is registered in Cpt. Maybe that could be a tread on its own if you get no joy here. Obviously you would have to hope that the guy won't ask commission.

One of the couriers that I regularly used was ITT and they charged me R104.00 for anything less than 5kg. That is from Cape Town to Kirkwood. That price is fixed till August next year. So you can see that it won't be good to use courier in this instance. Not sure about Post Office, think that will be between R50 and R80.00. That is not a gr8 option for a hdd though, unless very well packaged and insured of course.

I forgot to mention that Sahara have the following Samsung bundle special:
160GB - R199.00 + 500GB - R399.00 (Must buy both)

or

160GB - R199.00 + 1TB - R599 (Must buy both)

Vat excl in all prices.

You can also mosey over to the Dealer thread and look at the Esquire posts. Last I looked the 1Tb Samsung 5400rpm drive was R559 ex Vat. And as a MyBB member you can walk in and buy from them.

I've heard its much more worth it to spend a for hundred more on a Seagate cause they much better quality and 7200 compared to the Samsung's 5400

Search for the thread where we discussed the pros and cons.
Basically:
Data storage = OK
OS drive = not OK

Oh ok thanks moggie, that helps cause I'll mainly use it for storing photo's and movies and music and stuff...

Then he is probably not a business, and therefore shouldn't be registered at a supplier where end-users and non-businesses are not allowed to buy.
 
I found Seagate Barracuda*1TB*Serial ATA Hard Drive (SATA 3Gb/s, 7200.12, 32MB Cache) for R649.00.
Think thats a good deal :D
 
When did these get so cheap? :/

Bought a 1TB in January for R1,600
