Just think how bummed you'll be if that thing crashes though. Who is it made by?

Helluva a price, you could get 4 x 250gb in enclosures for half that price.

Although saying you have 1TB does sound cool :D

I'd sooner go for 2 of the 500gb ones. I've got 2 x 500 seagate enclosures for my media center and they're great. Only fw400 but that's more than enough for my needs.

Well you have a lot more faith in hard-drives than I do :)

I know all hard-drives fail eventually but they didnt have smaller fw drives - the 300gb and below were usb2.

What are the advantages of firewire compared to USB? I know mac loves fw...
USB2 might burst higher but fw400 has a higher sustained data transfer rate.

FW800 is much, much faster than USB2 or FW400.

But none of the devices I've seen allow daisy chaining. Do you buy a firewire hub?

Also what motherboards support the higher firewire speeds?

All of my firewire drives have two ports so I dont need/have a hub.

Not sure about motherboard support - all my mac's have it built in (even those with only USB1.1) and I bought a PC card for my PC.

No i've got Firewire, its just rated at 400. I want to know what motherboards/MAC out there have the higher bandwidth firewire ports.
