So I'm looking for a 1TB internal HDD. It's for storage so speed is not an issue, reliability and warranty being the deciding factor.

So make your suggestions.....;)

Esquire (excl VAT)

Seagate Barracuda*1TB*SATA 3Gb/s, 7200.12, 32MB Cache - 3 year swop out warranty - R699.00
Samsung® SATA2 1TB 5400RPM 32MB HDD - 3 year swop out warranty - R579.00

The Western Digital Green Power drives are awesome for storage and really reliable. I've had a 500Gb GP drive for 2-3 years now and have never had an issue and am going to buy a 1Tb GP this month. The energy savers drives are great for storage but i would avoid seagate/hitachi, there have been some bad reviews lately :/

EDIT: Oh and all warranties are basically the same length but it's no use when your HDD crashes and you lose all your data, reliability is the way to go.

Yeah I've seen that there are problems with Seagate drives. Not a fan of Samsung but that's a great price. Perhaps I'll buy 2 for that price moggie. Use one as a back up.

Lately the rating from quite a few sites in terms of reliability has been:
Western Digital
Samsung
Seagate

So you could take the risk and go with Samsung but the energy efficient drives normally last longer due to less heat, etc.

Would go WD. PC Direct can you okes make your site a little more friendly ? For example your storage section does not have any of these 1.5TB western digital drives you mention as it only seems to display external storage :P

I'd go with the Seagate, they've sorted out their problems since 7200.12 and are back to their good ol reliable self, also that Samsung listed above is only 5400RPM?

I'm also looking for a 1 TB preferably the cheapest WD, but I suppose Seagate is alright as well.

It is slow but it's not going to run my OS or games just MP3 and vids
