Hi all.

I am looking for a decent set of 2.1 speakers to use with my TV for movies and music.

They should be good for highs, mids, and lows, and ideally cost more than R3000.

I liked the look of the Corsair SP2500s, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s, and Creative Gigaworks T3s. Despite all of those products still being sold overseas, and listed on manufacturer websites, they don't seem to be available in SA. All we seem to get is Logitech stuff, which is very unfortunate.

If anyone knows where to get the aforementioned speakers, or can recommend a similar alternative, I'd really like to know :)

Been using one for 2 years now. It's not fancy surround sound but it does improve on the tv sound considerably. Once installed you can definately hear the difference. A friend just last week bought that unit on special at Takealot for R3299 and now it's come down even further. My kids bt their phones to it alll time to play their music as well.

Awesome :) And the bass isn't overpowering? I want something where the highs and mids are good too.

Super happy with my Logitech Z623s.

Have you found them to be more focused on bass than anything else? Reading about that in some reviews is what made me look elsewhere after considering them.

Harmon Kardon SoundStick III

Bought them a while ago. Very happy with the results. Used as PC speakers.

I don't like the design, but the reviews in terms of sound quality have been good.

The bass is not too overpowering and you can set the level for bass and treble. I don't know much about mids and highs and all I can say is that i get what i want from it, which is sound that is better than just the TV speakers. You would probably have to go an listen to it somewhere first to see if it's something you like. The problem i had with computer speakers is that i had to plug it into the headphone jack and that didn't work too well. this connects via HDMI, fibre optical, and had aux inputs. Subwoofer connects wirelessly so it can be place anywhere and the soundbar remote works with both soundbar and TV and vice-versa.

+1 My Z623 are great going on about 1 year now no problems great sound and base. Can turn them all the way up and still have clear sound. Seems they power my audio technica headphones better than when I plug in directly to my pc also.

Not particularly, no. Your sub placement makes a big difference, though.

They've got great range, imo. Handles different kinds of audio well.

If you guys had to choose between the Logitech Z623, Samsung HW-J450, or waiting until perhaps February next year for the Microlab SOLO 9C, which would you get?
