whats the fastest and why?

2.4Ghz Celeron // 128 cache/400fsb

2.4Ghz Celeron D ///256 cache///533fsb


whats up with Celeron D, is it a trick to make people them, and get 128kb more cache memory and get a little bit faster FSB, I know it's old, but its all I have, your welcome to donate!!:)
 
the celeron d is quicker.
even if the specs were the same, the celeron d would be quicker as it is a different architecture (more efficient cpu)

the 400fsb celeron you mentioned first is a northwood variant, from way back when. it isnt "quick" even for vague values of the word "quick"
 
I have a 2.8Ghz Celeron D active right now in a server, and it running extremly hot, then its used hard, above 65 deg

how different are the architecture?
i could explain, but i have a feeling it would just give rise to more questions.

The Celeron D was a major performance improvement over previous Netburst Celerons. A test using a variety of applications, run by Derek Wilson at Anandtech.com, showed that the new Celeron D architecture alone offered up performance improvements on average of >10% over a Northwood Celeron when both CPUs were run at the same bus and clock speed.[23] The addition of SSE 3 instructions and the higher FSB only added to this already impressive gain.

Despite its many improvements, the Prescott core of the Celeron D had at least one major drawback: heat. Unlike the fairly cool running Northwood Celeron, the Prescott-256 had a class-rated TDP of 73 watts, which prompted Intel to include a more intricate copper core/aluminum finned cooler to help handle the additional heat

short answer, the 533fsb is a prescott, the 400fsb is a northwood. use either of those words in google to further the journey:-)

When we compared my 630 3.3Ghz HT cpu with my friends 2.4Ghz quad core(Q6600), i couldn't really see a difference in our normal computer use.

Then again would think that the Quad core will be able to run alot more power hungry app's simoultaniously and some of what i heard that the normal 1 core Ht with 2 threads will sometimes out perform the quad on certain tasks because the core's of the quad are slower, but makes up with more of them. The only problem is that it doesn't always use all the 4 cores @ 1ce.
 
My Celeron D 1.6ghz (1GB RAM) is quite close to my P4 3.0ghz HT (1GB RAM) ...

I think they're pretty cool for the price
 
Why are you people bothering with Celeron junk? Proper bona fide Pentium 4's and Core 2 Duo's are pretty cheap now anyway

Why are you people bothering with Celeron junk?

How about the people with a lot of junk and old pc’s that don’t get used, gets donated to people like me and some other folks on here, who needs a old upgrades, “from older to old”

I love P4 parts and newer! And I love to build CCTV servers that like to suck up every resources on single core pc’s
