So I want to get another 2.5" external kit but I haven't looked in a while so I want some opinions on price. Only prerequisite is that it is 2.5" and runs from USB.

So far I've come up with:

Western Digital Scorpio ® Blue™ 160.0Gb 5400RPM + 8Mb Cache 9.5mm SATA
From Cyberdyne System for R 741,00

And a 2.5" external storage case for R150 from Matrix Warehouse.

Yes I'm hoping someone one the forum might have recently done the research would save me a bit of time :)

Help Plz :D

So far I've had very good experiences with this one. It's really some OEM, they're available under several brand names. I got my first one under the "E-Force" label from PC International in Randburg. Pretty cheap, sturdy construction, aluminium body, USB with two ports (one extra for power, should you need it), solid connectors (in stead of cables), good performance. Available in IDE and SATA.

My only gripe is they don't make these in firewire.

I needed a 2.5" enclosure at short notice and got a Transcend one from Incredible Corruption (before they committed fraud and lost me as a customer) for R130. Works quite well.
