Kudos to Telkom's technical team that installed my ADSL line in one day. I want to trant about TelkomInternet's PATHETIC customer service. My ADSL line was installed by 11:00 am Monday morning. I am still waiting for a username and password for access to the service. Never mind that I have been billed for both ADSL and Prolog on Monday. No one at TelkomInternet can tell me why it is taking so long, or they simply don't answer their phones. (Currently on hold for 11m33s). I was lucky enough to get a praticularly rude person this morning that told me they are working on it and I shouldn't complain about the time it is taking and they will call me. So, a day passed and no phone call. I refuse to pay ADSL rental or Prolog charges for the time that they did not issue me with a username or password.

Argh! [:(!][:(!]

I had a similar experience last year when I applied for ISDN.
It also took 2 days to get the username and password.

But that was not all. When the installation person came to install my line, (this was now after putting in the line, drilling holes, installing the ISDN box, etc.) they found there was no connection point for ISDN in the distribution box down the street!
So away they went (forgetting to reconnect my analog line so I was without service for more than a day) and only a month later did I get my (working) ISDN.

But I did get the last laugh though, the IDIOTS still think I have a dialup account! They bill me for analog dialup, but I have an ISDN username and password and I dial in using ISDN.
Eventually they will have more than paid me back for all the inconvenience. [:D]

Man, this is exactly what worries me about these guys. Having decided to go for ISDN instead of ADSL, i contacted the Telkom ISDN number for info and to order the service. I was asked for my fax nr and told i would receive the forms within 24 hours. I made this call 3 times in the space of 10 days, each time answered by someone who enquired how Telkom could provide me with excellent service today. Hah!
So eventually i went and collected the forms from the local telkom outlet.
God knows what's in store for me now, lol.
Hopefully i'll be up and running in 6 months, having experienced this "excellent service" before.

Telkom - South Africa's Handbrake to progress.

I had exactly the same problem.. ADSL.. without an username & password. So I was so pissed off, I went to my closest internet cafe, and wrote down their ADSL username & password... Telkom can go suck my adsl-modem.
