Murder-plot accused gets bail

Durban – A Durban businessman accused of plotting to kill his business partner was granted R20 000 bail in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said that apart from the bail, Dain Neveling was only allowed to leave his house for medical, religious or business reasons after obtaining permission from the investigating officer.

He was also ordered not to interfere with state witnesses and to report to the Hillcrest police station twice a week.

Neveling faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and intimidation.

Neveling was initially arrested by the Hawks in October, along with Hendrik Nunez and Jorgen Jorgensen, in connection with an alleged plot to kill his business partner Grant Jones.

In the first attack in July last year, Jones was shot five times and is now wheelchair-bound.

He should not be out on bail IMO.

Was shocked to read he got bail, I thought getting caught in the initial sting operation would automatically deny him bail. but I assume he would be careful since he would be a suspect if anyone involved in the case is murderes and he cannot get a pay out now
