Can one have 2 lines installed on your property ?

1 for the house and the other for a granny flat.

FNO is Octotel in our area

I have 2 lines on my property. My FNO is Vumatel.
Apply for another line but you give the address as 30B or whatever your street number is.

As @SpiderGear said, it can be done provided there's a provision in the box/street for another line but you will have to use a slightly different address (which may need to be created with your FNO.

Or get a higher speed and make a deal to split the cost.
R700* for a 35/25.
R700* Shared 500/50 on a 1000/100 line.

This is the route I'd go too. Depending on who you're sharing with, you most likely even don't need to do a formal splitting of the bandwidth. Just run a LAN cable to WAN on a router their side and you should be good to go.

I tried that, but when the tenants are always full of excuses it makes it easier to give them their own line.
One less thing I have to worry about.

Or unplug their cable if they don't pay . But I hear you, dealing with tenants can be a disaster

That's understandable. That extra speed is still tempting :p

If you're sharing with a tenant then I wouldn't share the line.

You don't know what illegal activities they may be up to and the account is linked to your name so you're the fall guy.

Thanks for the replies.

It will be 2 different set of tenants on the property 1 in the house and other in the Granny flat and I would like to keep their internet separate. How would I know if 2 ONT's can run from the box outside against the wall ?

Typically multiple strands of fibre are deployed to the wallbox, but only Octotel will be able to say for sure.

You can contact [email protected] and explain that you want an additional line installed at the same property, and we'll get Octotel on it.

You asked them for two boxes (not in Afrikaans please). I have two boxes, the first one the installers could not use as the placement was wack. Vumatel installed another box in more user friendly location. So similar, just request house number 20b, 46b etc.
