i wasn't sure what section to put this in. As its probably a hardware thing i thought i'd put it here.

okay so when i press the power button on my PC, the fans start spinning, the keyboard lights come on as well as the mouse but there is no display on the monitor. All that can be heard is 2 long beeps. the beeps are about a second long each

Now the PC is pretty old, and im not exactly sure what the speccs are. but here are the things i have tried:
* i have tried re-seating and using working RAM.
* i have tried a working power supply.
* i have tried a new HDD (long shot i know)
* i have tried re-seating the little watch battery.

as for speccs here goes:
Motherboard - MSI MS-7529 (core 2 duo 3.0ghz)
Graphics - Ge-force 210
2GB of RAM

cant really think of anything else relevant... any ideas?

In my experience it's most likely just RAM. Make sure your RAM is in the correct slots (most mobo's I've dealt with need RAM in slot 1 and 3 to work, 2 and 4 is also paired up)

The motherboard you specified should have onboard VGA, so if Nokkie is correct, just slot out the current one you have and plug it in directly to check. AFAIK, the computer won't beep if the external VGA is faulty.

You say the PC is old. Take a close look at the capacitors on the motherboard. In particular, look for signs of bursting and fluid leakage. If you do see this it is probably best to toss the MB as it is old and surface capacitor replacement is difficult from a soldering point of view.

its definitely not the RAM, unless all 4 slots are broken. and i plugged the monitor into the onboard and same issue occurs. it could be capacitors and stuff but im not sure. maybe ill take it up to a pc repairs shop, let them have a look
