So, I've now got 2 modems and did some tests. The modems are in 2 places in my house, one at 100% strength, other is 3 to 4m away from that modem and sits at about 80%

So, I did speed tests and this is how it pans out:

Modem1: 0.99Mbps, 140ms ping
Modem2: 0.56Mbps, 240ms ping

So I did the tests at the same time, to see how they would effect each other:
Modem1: 0.99Mbps
Modem2: 0.61Mbps (odd?)

So I started some downloads (not at the same time):
Modem1: +-100KB/s
Modem2: +- 50KB/s

Then queued youtube videos for download at the same time:
Modem1: +-80KB/s
Modem2: +-60KB/s
Total: 140KB/s

It seems that location is very important to download speeds. Modem2 suffers more error % (prob reflection off the wall or something). So if you are finding your going "slow", try moving around a bit more. In theory, I should be able to get a total 200KB/s combined.

Another interesting thing, is that during the day, I did another speed test:
Modem1: 0.60Mbps
Modem2: 0.44Mbps

This is perhaps because the tower is being used by someone else, or daytime speeds are slower. I'll do another test tomorrow morning.

Check on same location. Use Modem1, then remove 1st and put 2nd modem in same location. Just curious.

I've noticed different speeds as well, by moving the modem like just 30cm. Placement is very important and unfortunately you have to waste cap to get the perfect location, as you can get 100% signal at both locations, but speeds still differs.

use ping, it uses very little bandwidth:

ping www.google.com -n 1000

And once you have good signal, do a download during the "free hour hours" - ie. Before 8am.

Thing is, in the short distance, the latencies don't really increase that much, but it is still a good idea, thanx.
