Hi all,

I hope someone can assist here. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise.

I got a Vodacom 3G Huawei K3565 Rev 2 modem last week and it all works well when i am only connected to the 3G network.

What i actually want to do, is be connected on a LAN via an Ethernet cable and at the same time be connected to the 3G card. My main reason for this is that all sport websites are blocked at work and i would like to direct all internet browser activity via the 3g Card.

Now i have managed to be connected to both networks at the same time, but the problem is, that the 3G network becomes the primary network, Outlook starts to loose its connections, i can no longer see network drives at work, etc.

I did some further investigations and i was told to adjust the metrics on the routing table on Windows.
I have made my Ethernet connection to metric 10 and the 3g card to metric 50. This did not work either. What i have noticed, is that while i am on the Lan, the Ethernet is metric 21, but as soon as i connect to 3G, that metric changes to 4250 and the 3G metric is 41. I have even tried disabling automatic metrics and specifying them and that still did not work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?

You need to add a route to send LAN traffic through the network card.
Longwinded info here.

Thanks for that.

What would also aid me, is if i can let Windows see the 3G card as a Network Adapter rather than a modem. I read something about enabling NDIS support but not sure how to do it. Still investigating. Any info would be appreciated.

does anyone know where i can get the Vodafone firmware for a K3565 Rev 2 usb device?

Vodafone K3565 Rev 2 - Firmware or driver required?

Hi,

When i insert my 3g Stick into my USB port, i would like to see the 3g stick as a Network Adapter rather than a Modem.

What is required for me to ensure this is how the 3g stick will be installed? Would it require a certain version of Vodafone firmware or simply a driver update?

The reason why i am considering this is that Windows 7 routing tables work better with Network Adapters over Modems.

When i connect using the Modem, it for some reason believes that connection is way faster than my 1GB LAN connection and everything routes to the 3g Stick. Even if i change the metric values on the routing tables, i still have an issue.

Please assist or guide me in the correct direction.

Much appreciated.

The latest version of Huawei Mobile Partner has the ability to switch capable devices between NDIS and modem mode.
