Are you joking you might be thinking but I say no.

On friday last week myself and the missus decided to go for the 1024KB offering as the office refunds R400 and we can afford it. So she phoned in and ordered the upgrade which they said would be done in 2 working days, this was at about 12:00 midday. I figured I'd have my upgrade by this week friday but nooooooo, it was completed yesterday afternoon while I was at work.

I am very impressed with that speedy service.

The second thing was my 384KB line was really slow and I couldn't connect to the VPN server at the office to do work. My throughput was around 17KB so I called them on Sunday night at around 18:30 and logged a call. Monday morning at 08:00 I get a call from the Telkom techie saying that he's on his way to checkout the problem. At 11:00 he called to say that the line is fine and my router might be the issue. So, last night i factory reset my WAG54G Linksys and re-setup the config and all is beautifull and my 1024KB kicked in at the same time.

I can't understand how sometimes they get it so right but the other 99.999999% of the time it just sucks.

Time to implement Six Sigma for QC and process management Telkom.

No 1 really ever has problems with telkom in cape town.

most of the subscribers are like from jozi etc

cape town is laid back and mello.where as jozi's people are like all money driven!

im probably talkin alot of garbage to some people, but i see it for my own eyes and its the truth

all u jozi people should come down to cape town and u'll see

yah u right, all us jozi people dont think it is right for telkom to take 2 days to 2 weeks to install something that they can do in 5 min, call me strange but that dont make much sense to me....

I lived in Jozi for 2 years and worked for a corporate. There isn't much difference if you're part of the middle class working group.

I also had 2 good experiences. Firstly my line was installed in like 2 days (YAY), but then it didn't work. Phoned Telkom at about 8:30 on the Friday evening, line was fixed at 10:30 the following Saturday. I live in Jozi, I actively participate in the Rat Race, and I visit Cape Town often on business. AIMHO the Capetonians are a few light years behind joburg.

LOL, I understand you being from Jozi you think the world starts and ends with your end of SA but it's simply not true. Maybe you've been in and out of the tree hugger clubs in Obz or Long street when you're down here but the worker bees work as hard in CT as anywhere else in SA. The way things work here is we work hard, we prelax better, the quality of living is far superior and we make the same money you crazys make in Jozi.... that's a fact. And we're we don't slate Jo'burg for being different like you guys slate Capetonians. We leave you be to your own devices because we know that just outside Jozi there's a big sign that clearly states.... DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS.

As for the fact that the money is better in Jozi, that is also not true anymore. Salaries are pretty much the same wherever you go, in Durban you can actually get paid more because good skills are rare as there aren't that many people there.

I think thems fighting words  Just Joking, dunno who I wasfooling, Jozi sucks, Gangsta's paradise and all that. But you gotta admit, it's a fact that Jozi people are way better looking!

better looking people where? I really need to dig myself out of my Jozi hole if that's the case ;-)

Wish I can go back to US...made a terrible decision coming back to SA last year

@MR Jones,u wrong ther when u say jozee ppl are better looking than capetonians.u prob havnt been to beach b4,dat reminds me u ppl in jozee dnt hav any :) com to cape town in december and make sure u go to campsbay, clifton beach, gordons bay,etc while u here and see for urself.

It just goes to prove that Telkom's only obstacle to providing a first world ADSL product/price is pure greed.

wow. this proves one thing: a positive Telkom experience leads to sidetracking to a JHB vs CPT debate. okay, not really, but still, it seems that a positive experience is basically unimportant, positive:negative ratio = 12:3928392 (*disclaimer, that was a made up number ;))

as for the CPT vs JHB thing. i live in Jo'burg, for the most part i like it here. Jo'burg people do things their way, and CPT people do things their way (i love those Kalula.com ads) in the end - we all have one thing in common - we're all South African; and we hate Telkom more than each other ;)

I think the CT ppl are just jealous of our good looking people, sticks and stones man, sticks and stones...

flip their are mooi chickies in every province!!

but cape town is "da gam capital of South Africa"...so that already makes k@k for us down here.

the way these chicks and dudes talk and act makes them look and sound ugly!

Can't believe this thread lol.

However, all the money in the world won't buy you Table Mountain or Camps Bay :P
