2 routers and 1 telkom line

hi guys i tried my self but i cannot get it to work and im not sure if it will!

Scenario: i stay in a commune there is a telkom router and a 1mb line; we all have our own isp and have a PPPOE dial up connection; it all works fine, but now i cannot connect my blackberry to the wifi for internet or my laptop; so what i was thinking is to make my router dial out and connect to it with my wifi key and patch cable, but i found that my router wont dial out as its looking for a dial tone and does not detect it from the other router.

my question is, can it be done.

You can have as many routers as you like on one line, but I suspect you are trying to put more than one modem on the line, which AFAIK is not possible on Telkom infrastructure.

Best thing would be to try and get one of the routers to dial it's PPPoE connection over the ethernet port rather than the telephone line. Some can do this, but most cannot.

You'd be best set by either sharing the connection through your PC or seeing if there is a PPPoE app for blackberry ( doubtful )

well thats what im trying to get it to do, but it seems like it does not have that functionality, ( netgear dgn2000 ) but yea i need to connect my router as i need the wifi for my laptop and my blackberry to control my media center.

well ill see now if i can find a upgraded firmware for my router ( highly doubt it )

Your router's WAN port goes into the router connected to the phone line. Set up your router's PPPoE and enable MAC filtering or something on it.

If you want to do it using hardware only you will have to get a broadband router. You can always initiate the PPPOE from your p.c. and activate internet connection sharing, but you will have to leave your p.c. on.

the first router has the line; my router has the lan cable from that router, then to my pc and then wifi, and my router must dial out over the lan..... thats what i want

currently i go straight into my computer and dial out there, with afrihost i can have multiple con current connections which is fine but i need to add my blackberry and my ladys tablet to the wifi, i cant do pppoe on those and i also use my bb to control my media center...

i will work fine if i just use my router for adsl but i rather have every one with there own isp than share one

What wifi router do you have and how many ethernet ports does it have, maybe it can do PPPoE on the wan port?

i have a netgear dgn2000; i contacted netgear support and according to them i cannot do it with this model.

so im thinking now as a work around.......... if i have two network cards and i bridge them, i dial out on my computer and plug my router in, assign static ips..... i should get internet... i will try that next year

now its just come to a point that i will do it just for *****s and giggles

If you put one router in bridge mode then everyone can dial their own pppoe connection from their machine.

@Reactor_sa: it is already like that, and that's the reason for the problem im having.....

well i did a bit of trail and error; i have managed to get my media server up and controllable from my bb but no still no internet, all my devices can browse each other, but i cant get internet, i will try internet sharing, but there are voices in my head saying it wont work. i might as well let everyone just use my account then..... as it will dial out for anyone who requires internet.so i will try that.

Buy something like a routerboard for cheap and let it handle all the PPPoE sessions.
