Hi

I have a Netgear router connected to ADSL. Its IP address is 192.168.0.1 and I can edit the settings going to http://192.168.0.1/start.htm. So here no problem.

The second router is a D-Link. It was my original router to go the the internet but that part of the router is not working anymore. However, the wireness still works perfectly. When I connect to that wifi with a Mac/iphone, the DHCP automatically gives me an ip address 192.168.10.2 with router ip address 192.168.10.200.

Here I have 2 problems.

1/ With the above settings in my mac/iphone, I can not connect to the internet. My only solution is to put an available static ip address 192.168.0.11 and the Netgear router ip address 192.168.0.1. Then it works. Is there another way? May-be changing the settings of the D-Link router to route properly to the internet via the Netgear router?

2/ But the problem is that I cannot access the settings of the D-Link router on its ip address 192.168.10.200. What should I do?

Help needed please, Paul

Using any PC (including Mac), set a static IP of 192.168.10.1 (don't worry about DNS or gateway).
Open your browser and access the D-Link router at IP 192.168.10.200
Login with user/pass for the D-Link.
Find and disable DHCP server in the D-Link settings. This is the problem here - the Dlink is acting as DHCP and assigning an IP address within it's own range when it should allow the other router to assign the IP address.
Save the settings and switch back to dynamic IP address on your PC.
Test.

I assume the two routers are connected in some way - either physically, or with WDS (wifi).

Thank you but I can not access the D-Link at its ip address, and I am not sure I understand your first line. I definitely can not setup a fixed ip address the same as the Netgear router on my mac.

BTW, the 2 routers are linked via ethernet.

Should I disconnect the Netgear, and only connect the D-Link directlty to the mac?

About not being able to connect to the D-Link at it's IP address... is your IP address in the 192.168.10.x range when you try?
When you connect your mac and get an IP address of 192.168.10.2, are you still not able to (from the Mac) access 192.168.10.200 in the browser?

What model d-link is it? You might have to reset it to factory default and try accessing it on the default IP address for that model (after setting your computer's IP address to a static IP in the same range as the d-link's default IP).

Once you are in, set the DHCP service off. It's always best to connect directly to the router via ethernet when configuring it. Keep it seperate from the other router until it's DHCP server is disabled.

You could set a static IP for your Mac and iPhone, but that's not ideal since you want to use them on other networks too.

Thank you very much… I have finally managed to reset the D-Link router correctly!
