2 routers with 1 line??

NO NO NO.
1 ADSL line can handle 1 ADSL MODEM/ROUTER on it.
The signals from the 2 routers will interfere with each other.

What you're contemplating is like having 2 people shouting down the line at one person on the end at the same time on different handsets.

What you can do is run the ROUTER in bridge mode and have one router control 2 connections at the same time.

It wont work. And why would you want to when you can have 2 (or more) connections on the same router.

You can connect two router to one line, but you will only be able to login once. So even if your ISP supports multiple logins on the same account you will not be able to authenticate on the secound routers as the first router is all ready connected. It is a technical constraint on the physical ADSL line / technology. Both router will try and use the same frequency to connect / authenticate to the DSLAM.

you can however use an analogue modem and an ADSL modem on the same line at the same time, as they use different frequencies (as long as the analogue modem is connected via a POST filter)... don't really see the point though

But what if you only have 1 modem, and two routers connected to it?

I have 3 routers on my 1 line in that case...

1. ADSL router / modem (bridged)
2. WRT54GL (esablishes PPPoE connection)
3. RB112 (establishes PPPoE connection)

So multiple routers, yes... but always only 1 ADSL modem.

Well the main reason i asked this question was becoz i was at a friends house n we wanted to lan but cudnt move the pcs into the same room. Not enuf space. N we didnt have long enuf lan cables. There was however a telephone socket in each room n we had loads of telephone cable so thats y we thought we cud give it a shot. Thx for the quick replies. In the end we kinda figured the signals wud interfere tho. Hehe i ended up playing games sittin on the floor. now thats dedication :D

You would've had an issue anyway, as Telkom only converts 1 telephone jack to ADSL.
