Hey all

Wonder if you can assist please, been running 2 x Seagate 7200.9 160Gb Barracuda Sata drives in a secondary pc. The drive with the O/S is a W/D (thank goodness) IDE so the pc has continued to boot. Today I tried to access one of the sata drives, and nothing. On closer inspection, I see they not being picked up in BIOS. I remove the cover, and hear ticking from both.

I tried running both as primary sata etc, still not picking it up, and ticking, does this mean both drives are gone?

Also both drives are less than 3 years old, but I dont have an invoice, where can I take them to (Seagate head office?) surely they can read off the serial number ?

Thanks all...

Sounds like they're both dead, if there wasn't any important info on them I wouldn't hesitate to RMA them somewhere.

Try a place in CT called Drive Control. Can always call them for advice before you make any decisions.

Thanks, I got their number Drive Control 011 201 8927 (for anyone else viewing this thread) I dont remember where I bought them, One might be from Matrix, so I can start there, but the other came with the computer possibly as an insurance replacement.
