20 Mb and VDSL router

Did you have to tell Telkom to leave your line as ADSL and just increase the speed? If this is possible i would like to do that as well. Makes perfect sense from financial perspective. I don't care much about the upload speed. Would you please share more information, how exactly did you do it.

Hi there,

I spoke to the tech that had to sort out the line. They couldnt get 40mbps and so they treid 20mbps... worked for a day. Then it dropped to 15mbps. then all of sudden Axxess dropped it to 10mbps... WTF? so I told them NO 20mbps and they refused so I contact telkom business. The line had plenty issue prior and I know if a line has too many issues the problem gets escalated. So day later the techs came out and showed me it is working on 20mbps ADSL 2+ and I am still getting that. 20mbps VDSL is just better upload but does strain line more and Telkom is having problems with the VDSL.

this line is 967m from the Exchange itself and therefore should be able to get 40mbps however they simply same VDSL is very very full of SHUUUUT. So we settled for 20mbps ADSL 2+ get about 18mbps downloads out of it.

How I would go about this is say you arent happy with your line and demand tech come out. Ask if ADSL2+ profile instead of the VDSL profile. And As i said a stupid ADSL2+ router bridged is best. BTW ADSL2+ max speed is 20mbps and if they argue with you show them wikipedia. I had to do this with axxess the other day. I wasnt ammused at all.

here is my line stats:
Your Download Quality
Current Speed: 20479 kbps
Signal Interference: 10.9 dB
Signal to Noise Ratio: 14.3 dB
Your Upload Quality
Current Speed: 1021 kbps
Signal Interference: 26 dB
Signal to Noise Ratio: 13.3 dB

Hope you come right
