200 GIG SATA Seagate, can it be fixed

Ok, if u were to accidently pull to hard on the SATA connector, and accidently break the plastic and two pins (well two of the connector pins), on the back of the hard drive, is there anyway to replace this or fix it or anything, and how much would it cost.

Thnks for any help or advice.
 
the SATA connectors seem to be made out of a brittle type of plastic...when it goes it goes quite spectacularly! At my workplace I have seen about 20 sata connectors broken in the last couple of years. The same goes for the motherboard connector...

We've tried glue, epoxy etc etc...but havent found anything suitable.
If you come up with a solution (boere-style) then let me know, I'm interested.
 
how the hell you managed to break a SATA connector? it looks quite unbreakable to me ... unlike the 40 pins on the ATA connectors?!
 
Hint - If you are going to solder, get yourself a temperature contolled iron such as a Weller. With the right temperature tip you won't stuff up either the component or board.
 
I didnt say I broke them:-)

They do break...pretty easily if you are a bit rough. The power connector is ok, but the data connector snaps for no reason on the hdd if stress is applied in an upwards or downwards direction.
 
Hmmm, so i take it thats a no, i have to just by a new one, and try get the data again.
