Good for you, to need a win against a "Carlos Tevez-inspired" West Ham fighting for survival would have been dangerous. :D

yeah that's why winning the league now is a relief. The first team players can have a break now having played in so many games in the last few weeks.

Sir Alex Ferguson has identified three summer transfer targets to bolster his title-winning Manchester United squad.

Ferguson maybe still basking in the glory of a ninth Premiership crown but already the Scot's mind has drifted towards next season, when he expects Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal to provide a stiff challenge to the Red Devils newly-reclaimed domestic supremacy.

And he has told chief executive David Gill the trio of new faces he believes will give United their best chance of finishing top of the pile again next term.

'We have outlined three targets and David Gill is aware of them,' said Ferguson.

'As everyone knows, there is competition for the best players and when there is competition, it costs, so we will just have to wait and see.'

Ferguson refused to go public with the names of the players United will go for but Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves will certainly be one, with Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov also believed to be near the top of his list.

While Spurs boss Martin Jol may be unwilling to part with Berbatov 12 months after selling Michael Carrick to United, the blow may be softened by the arrival in return of Louis Saha, whose United days appear to be numbered.

If rumours of a Juventus move for Gabriel Heinze prove correct then young Southampton defender Gareth Bale, whom Ferguson targeted during the last transfer window, can also expect to be on the United manager's hit-list.

However, in the knowledge that Chelsea are bound to splash the cash this summer in a bid to overhaul his side, Ferguson is keen to do his business quietly.

'Manchester United has always been an attraction,' he said.

'We have 76,000 people watching us every week and have a celebrity status which means we are known throughout the world.

'It is not a question of attracting players. The real competition comes when Chelsea pay £27million for someone like Michael Essien. They can outbid us all.

'We identify players as quietly as we can so we can do things quickly.

'It is not easy, but that is what we are trying to do.'

Hmmm, I would not mind Berbatov.

We need a replacement for Keane. Since he left, noone has filled his boots (Carrick has shown a bit of promise in the last few games but he is far too defensive in most situations).

It will be good to get all the injured players back as well. Gary Neville is a great asset both in defence and storming forward. IMO he is one of our best crossers.

Rumours are that Fergie will be given 50mil pounds to buy players. He says he has three players in mind. This is will bode well for United as Chelsea and Liverpool are looking to spend big during the post-season. Hargreaves will prob be signing for United.

I am not sure I am a big fan of Hargreaves. He might have been England's best player in the WC, but that really doesn't say much. Also, he is similar to Carrick, and not a Keane...

What do you think of Bouba Diop in the Keane role?

He is a huge man, that is for sure! I must say I would like to see him at a bigger club, where he can really get a chance to shine. He is a Keane/Vieira type player which is what we need. He also gets forward and is great in the air. I would certainly prefer him to Hargreaves!

Yeah, they don't call him "the wardrobe" for nothing. :)

You can have Sissoko. For a fee of course ;)

:D

Drop in Gerrard and we'll take the offer :D

Talk of United very interested in Nani from Sporting. Could be a good cover for Giggs but I haven't seen Nani play much to really say how good he really is. 'Pool gonna raid the two dodgy Argentines from West Ham.

Guard of honour at Chelski!!!

Chelsea captain John Terry is ready to give Manchester United a guard of honour as champions even though he knows it will be hard to stomach.

The Blues were shown similar respect when they won the title and Terry knows it was a difficult thing to do for some of United's players.

After Chelsea's failure to beat Arsenal on Sunday, United will arrive at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as champions and Terry is ready to return the compliment.

He declared: "The manager has said already they will get the guard of honour which they did to us at Old Trafford.

"Looking at some faces, it could not have been nice. We have to go through that and we fully respect them as players and individuals. We will do that holding our heads up high."

Chelsea, who were last top of the Barclays Premiership in October last year, ran out of steam as they chased success on four fronts.

Having won the Carling Cup in February, Chelsea were hoping to land an unprecedented quadruple but a defeat in the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool last week put paid to that dream.

Their hopes of winning a third successive title were then wrecked by Arsenal even though Chelsea's heroic efforts deserved more.

Terry added: "It is obviously very disappointing, when you look at the season as a whole.

"We were played really well at Arsenal, especially with 10 men and were unlucky not to have been able to push Manchester United right to the wire in the end. But it was not to be.

"They are champions, and congratulations to them for that. They have been very good this year.

"You look at Man Utd, and their games - Everton away, Man City away - and expected them maybe to slip up in one of those games, but the one they did was against Middlesbrough at home the week before.

"It was similar with us, against Bolton at home - we were expected to win and then have a difficult game at Arsenal, which we did.

"The games we thought we would win and the ones we thought Man Utd would win, did not go that way.

"There was a little bit of a twist at the end but unfortunately we are not there.

"We want to get it back as soon as possible. It is the target for our whole squad and over the past few years that has been our main one.

"The Champions League was disappointing again this year, but we now desperately want the Premiership title back and we will be fighting again next year.

"I am sure they will sign players and strengthen again, a lot of teams will, but we will certainly push them all the way again.

"We will get the season over and then can fully assess it. No-one can take anything away from Man Utd. They have been awesome and some of their players have been fantastic this year. But from our point of view it was all very disappointing."

:) Honour guard indeed.

well when u get pwned u need become humble because you cannot talk big with only a minor trophy, that trohpy was meant for the smaller clubs but chelsea dont win much so they went for it

it will be sad to see a team thats spent over 300 million win nothing because the trohpy they have is nothing

also phillips shevo and ballack total = 71 million wasted

Ballack didn't cost anything though beside the huge salary he is getting. So the three would cost them 51mil pounds. Total disaster signings or buying without thinking especially for Sheva who is past 30 now. Ballack should've gone to United but I guess he was looking for Glory.
