2006/2007 Premiership Footy Thread

Hehe..well let's don't get ahead of ourselves now. 98/99 was one of the best in history. The comebacks were very memorable. Liverpool's 5th round defeat, Giggs' run of the century, Solskjaer, Yorke, Cole, Sherringham...Keane's goal against Juventus. Our team now cannot match the one then.

This is true. We had great players in every position and great backup on the bench as well...

Ah 1999, what a great year....

*gets nostalgic...

Arsenal to win, don't know about the score but I predict 2 (Henry, Adebayor) - 1 (Ronaldo).
Not a bad prediction. ;)
It was more of a cautious tactical game than an explosive one but what drama for the finish, United did play well until conceding the late goals. If Abou Diaby (Gilberto's successor) can live up to expectations in the Defensive midfield role watch out for this Arsenal side in the very near future!

If Arsenal aren't going to win the league (and we obviously aren't) I'd very much rather it go to a proper football team like United than a bullsh*t billionaires plaything like Chelsea. I would have been very much okay with a draw yesterday though, obviously, I'm not complaining too much about having robbed the red scum at TNHOF.

:D

*cough* I wish ManUre the best of luck for the rest of the season *cough*

A final amusing observation was van der Sar sprinting forty yards to the referee following Henry's winner to complain about our time wasting! His time eating at 0-1 was so blatant that I think the clock on my phone audibly yawned. Justice rarely comes more poetic when you consider that van der Sar and Evra's time wasting ultimately cost United sufficient time to mount an attack.

lol... van der Sar complaining about time wasting.. one just has to think back to when man utd were 1-0 up and adebayor helped fetched the ball for van der sar to take his goal kick, and then vds picking up the ball up and moving it..

Hehe. That is unfortunate. Timewasting is part and parcel of the game nowadays though. I would have much preferred United to keep on going forward till the final whistle than try to sit back and defend a slender 1-0 lead.

This has been United's problem for some time, especially this season. It needs to be sorted. Bringing on Heinze for Ronaldo summed up the negative attitude perfectly.

Yup...Heinze for Ronnie was a weird one for me...Rather Heinze for Evra seeing that Evra made the two defensive errors leading to the goals...anyways no complaints. ManU just need to do better against the smaller teams away and the league is there for the taking.

Indeed. With the form that the Russians are currently in, they are going to lose more games. United, I can't see losing more than once more...

It was strange to see Manure go so defensive. I think the lack of a DM was exposed in the last 20min when Scholes and Carrick started to get overrun a bit. Maybe Fergie tried to compensate for it by making other areas more defensive.

I must add that a good ten minutes before the first goal I was telling my mate that Heinze must replace Evra. After he hurt himself he really started to struggle. Add the fact the two CDs were starting to look dodgy under pressure and it was obvious that if Ars were gonna score it would be from a cross from the left. I'm surprised Fergie messed it up.

Well it's Watford at home next for United so I foresee a rout and us getting right back on track :)

some nice midweek action for once....8 games tonight and tomorrow. i predict a victory for the mighty hammers tonight...

Comfortable wins for United 4-0 and Chelsea 3-0. Liverpool did ok winning 2-1, so its pretty much as you were really.

Looks like Rooney is back on form. Glad that Lars scored as well. Talks about Liverpool might win the league...hmmm...

Yeah, Lars should have been on from the start. Rooney is redhot at the moment and as for Ronaldo...And the WC fiasco. All is forgiven :p

Liverpool 0 - 0 Everton...dropping points at home..no chance of winning the league now for 'pool.

Spurs game should be an interesting one. On current form though, United should beat anyone.

United Spurs about to kick off...Should be a good game. 3-0 to United, Rooney, Ronaldo, Larsson
