Hi guys, im thinking of purchasing a 2006 Chrysler 300c 5.7 hemi with 124000km on the clock from a dealer named Auto Investments in vanderbijl park. I just read a review from a consumer oversees and he stressed about a common problem about complete engine failure on these cars. Any opinions guys???

I don't have much to say on the Chrysler, but for it being American with a 5.7l engine is enough to send shivers down my spine. The Jeep/Chrysler group is not exactly famous for building reliable cars, I think that Hemi has that engine cylinder deactivation thing where it runs on half the cylinders to save fuel when you driving responsibly, but who can drive such a monster responsibly?
I seriously think you should continue looking, you will find your car unless of course you have loads of money to pour into that Hemi in fuel and maintenance.

They are expensive to run and very thirsty. Cabin quality isn't that great compare to German rivals. Steering lacks feedback and handling is not so great either, poor resale. The only issue is that parts will be expensive to replace if things do go wrong. If you have the money and it isn't a issue and you like that car go for it.
I would stay away from it and look elsewhere like its rivals such as BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XFR, Lexus GS, Mercedes Benz E-Class.

For "character" it's fairly hard to beat a 300C in that segment.
Lol yeah champ I missed out on the alfa, went for a golf 1 instead. Now the Peugeot 207 gti needs to head back to dealer because of turbo issues and they have the 300c thats catching my eye. So with that being said, yes my friend im a fool for disaster

Speaking from experience:-
One of the nicest cars I've owned and as a cruiser it's fine.
But:-
Parts are expensive, insurance expensive, Not the best handling cars in the wet. Tyres are scarce but there's a work around.
The worst is the resale value and the fuel. I did everything to better fuel economy but all that happened was it was faster. And when I talk heavy on fuel I mean very very heavy 4.5-6 km/l. I had special chips and branches imported and eventually my top end was about 278km/h but economy was still kark.
And no the engine is one of the best ever made hence the use them in a lot of USA conversions and Hot Rods but the gearbox is the issue and cost about R95K to replace because the engine is so powerful not many gearboxes can handle the power vs the weight of the car.
My opinion, unless you want a Sunday cruise car stay away.

Anything that old with with a big v8 is bound to give some issues, if you want it as a toy it's a pretty bad ass car. However be prepared to have some serious repair bills, what about a lumina or something german?
