I think a big mistake he made was not to bring in new players. The current squad is just not good enough to compete in the Premier League. They have a terrible defense, the midfield has Butt (past his prime) and Smith (not a midfielder by nature) and Owen is just not the same anymore and hasn't been for a while.

no merc they need quality players

no coach would help them, if big sam cannot make a team work nobody can

on season without big sam and bolton face the prospect of being relegated

yeah. they need a new team. the best thing for newcastle would be if an american company takes over and pours millions into new players.

money is not the problem with newcastle

sticking to one manager for awhile and the fans not putting down every manager cept keegan who has done nothing since arriving

the fans are newcastle's biggest problem, the board listens to them to much

we all know big sam could have turned newcastle into one of the big 4 if they gave him more than 8 months to do considering their currect crop of players

they can only buy players if they have money. but coming back to your point about not sticking to managers, i guess with the exception of the top 4 teams or so, every other team is guilty of exactly this. clubs no longer have any patience. they want results results results and as soon as there is a dip in form, the manager has to go. that's total BS. if Man United applied that low level of logic, Ferguson would've been gone a long time ago. success takes patience and dedication. nothing happens overnight. i also don't see why it's always the coaches that has to be fired. what about the players? the coach is not the guy running on the field. players get away with it.

Their owner is a billionaire. :D He needs to start allowing the manager to start spending some of his money.

Michael James Wallace Ashley (born 1963) is an English billionaire retail entrepreneur, in the sporting goods market. He is also the owner of Newcastle United after paying around £134 million to buy the club.

no well merc the thing is a manager like big sam, needs time

he came to a new club the players he had did not fit into his team and at the start they did well when he was in charge, then they hit alot of injuries and he had a make shift team

personally i think big sam was never liked at new castle and the biggest mistake a club has ever made was to get rid of him

bolton under big sam where an awesome team capable on their day of beating all the big teams

8 months is not enough to turn around a team of players you have not bought

Quinton Fortune signs for Blackburn

http://www.news24.com/News24/Sport/Soccer/0,,2-9-840_2281850,00.html

Blackburn - A source has confirm that Quinton Fortune has teamed-up with former Bafana Bafana colleagues Benni McCarthy and Aaron Mokoena and signed for English Premiership club Blackburn Rovers.

After an unsuccessful trial at Sunderland, Fortune travelled with the Blackburn Rovers squad to the United States on a mid-season break and did enough for Blackburn manager Mark Hughes to offer him a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Fortune has struggled with injury since leaving Bolton Wanderers whom he joined after becoming surplus to requirements at Manchester United.

With Blackburn pushing to qualify for a place in Europe this could be just the chance that Fortune has been waiting for.

His pedigree is well known but will he be able to resurrect his career after such a long lay-off?

Pffffft
The biggest st*ffup in football is the money IMO... unfortunately teams can't compete without more of it, hence it is a st*ffup

while Liverpool fans may smile about this, I'd still be worried. One week they're winning 4 - 0, the next they are losing to Derby
