Ive only watched 1 Man U game this season , but ive heard ppl say that Utd have dominated each game , and should have thrashed all the teams they've played.Ive gotr this strange feeling Newcastle will mount a serious challenge for the league and James Milner will be the PFA Player of the year , Shay Given will be the goal keeper of the year ,with Oba Martins challenging Van Persie for the top goalscorer

STYLES DROPPED AFTER ANFIELD BLUNDER

Referees' chief Keith Hackett has confirmed Rob Styles will not take charge of a match next weekend after his performance in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield.

Styles controversially awarded Chelsea a penalty which enabled the Blues to equalise Fernando Torres' opener, before causing confusion by brandishing a yellow card at Michael Essien - who had already been booked - but insisting it was John Terry being yellow-carded.

And Hackett, general manager of Professional Game Match Officials Limited, told Sky Sports News: Accountability exists and we, the PGMOL, do expect referees to get big decisions correct.

"On this occasion it was wrong and therefore Rob will not be officiating next weekend."

Hackett also revealed assistant referee Ian Gosling will be given next weekend off, after he denied Fulham a late goal at home to Middlesbrough when David Healy clearly forced the ball over the line.

The referees' supremo even apologised to Rafael Benitez and Lawrie Sanchez - Liverpool and Fulham manager respectively.

On Styles, Hackett added: "I spoke to Rob on Monday morning and obviously he is extremely disappointed with the decision and admitted he got it wrong. I have left a message with Rafael Benitez to apologise.

"Having looked at a video and seen a better angle and a better view, clearly he (Styles) now recognises that he got it wrong and he's deeply apologetic for that. I think, in fact, he too will be making contact with Liverpool in order to offer his apologies."

Asked about the confusion when Essien appeared to be booked for a second time, Hackett said: "I'm informed by both the fourth official and Rob he retained the card shown to John Terry then held the card to indicate a direct free-kick, and failed to put the card away. So it was a basic, if you like, admin error as against an error in application of law.

"We'll look at the video to ensure we don't get a repeat of that."

Hackett also confirmed Gosling, who wrongly ruled Boro goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer prevented Healy's effort from crossing the line, will also be without a game this weekend.

"Clearly the assistant referee has made an error, so he won't be operating next week for us either."

No No - stop those strange feelings. When you're closing your eyes, you are seeing United - not Newcastle Utd, but Manchester. Reveal only those feelings and only good ones for that matter. :D

Gee... but Carrick he looks fine but then just falls apart...

They need a big strong guy between the strikers...
 
k folks, here's the thing... i don't mind losing or drawing to chelsea or liverpool, but every cell in me has to thrash man u :p arsenal 'til i die ...;)
 
Referees' chief Keith Hackett believes the latest failure to award a clear goal highlights the need for goal-line technology.


The Premier League are pressing ahead with trials on a system being developed by the company Hawkeye.


The latest controversy came at the weekend when assistant referee Ian Gosling did not award Fulham a late goal at home to Middlesbrough when David Healy clearly forced the ball over the line. Gosling will miss out on a match this weekend as a result.

Hackett said: 'It is still in its testing stage but we hope when it is judged to be fail-safe then it will be used.

'Everyone in football recognises that goal-line systems can provide help for the referee to make his decision.''

He added: 'Clearly the assistant referee has made an error, so he won't be operating next week for us.''

Meanwhile, referee Rob Styles has apologised to Liverpool after admitting he was wrong to award a penalty to Chelsea during the 1-1 draw at Anfield yesterday.

The match official has accepted he made a mistake in penalising Steve Finnan and as a result he will not be given a match to referee this weekend.

Styles said: 'All referees enter into matches hoping not to make any mistakes but understanding that they may happen, what none of us want is for any mistake to potentially affect the result of the match.

'Yesterday, in mistakenly awarding a penalty, I accept that I may have affected the result of the match and for that I apologise.''

Styles awarded Chelsea a penalty which enabled the Blues to equalise even though Finnan appeared to make no contact with Florent Malouda.

Duh but what about penalty decisions? TMO for penalties as well IMO.

As for Piles an apology is not good enough for that shocker. :o It's obvious he is a talentless short sighted buffoon and he should resign to save another team from being on the end of his stupidity in the future :mad:

The only complaint with Oba Martins apparently, he is prone for a few yellow cards and even a red....
I like what you have to say about Van Persie...
MU , they dominate but the goals won't come... that is the heartache...
MU mind a loss to any team especially "THE GUNNERS"
Remember taking them out with only 10 men on the field in the FA Cup, hell that was great, was it not...:D

Makes sense. Manure ran rings around Reading and Man City. The just had some bad luck( something Manure fans can’t identify with :D)

Chelsea needed 2 pathetic goalkeeper mistakes to beat Birmingham at home and needed a complete idiotic buffoon to suffer delusions to scrape a draw with Liverpool :o

Coming to think of it. This is actually another looking at the situation AL, but it hurts you know...
Secondly the opposition were not that classy, but looking at Chelsea...
Yes the hopes should still be high... Do you think Voronin will play often for Liverpool?

united could slip into the relegation battle rofl or spurs could have a really kuk start to their season

He is much like Kuyt. Clever with a hardworking ethic(not as much as Kuyt) with the defensive attributes Rafa looks for in strikers :D. From pre season he looks like he has more of an eye for goal than Kuyt has( or is showing in the Prem)Unfortunately he lacks pace, technique and fair like Kuyt.

Pushing hard for a place with his current form but I don’t see him dislodging Torres/Kuyt partnership. Rafa does like Rotation though :D
